This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
There's a WHOLE lot more events to cover. We also need to see if the dialogue is different in any of the events.
Cacti speak Japanese.
...But what does it mean?
This game has text or audio that needs to be translated. If you are fluent with this language, please read our translation guidelines and then submit a translation!
Notes: The dialogue in e993_001. Contact someone in the Persona Modding server in #p5-beta-chat so we can get the translation in-game and record it.
And you were just a scroll away from being fired too...
Oh dear, I do believe I have the vapors.
This page contains content that is not safe for work or other locations with the potential for personal embarrassment.
Such as: A scene containing a suicide attempt.

Miscellaneous Event Differences

Hmmm...
To do:
So much more...

Small things that were changed throughout the game:

  • During the prologue in Niijima's Palace, the BGM is Whims of Fate instead of Life Will Change. When fighting Moloch, the music changes to Blooming Villain instead of the BGM from the overworld continuing to play through the fight.
  • Some scenes are missing NPCs, such as the delivery man outside of Sojiro's house. This can cause issues, such as softlocking the game after the second visit to Kamoshida's Palace as one of the volleyball team members you have to talk to does not appear.
  • During the cutscene in which Joker and Ryuji are thrown into jail in Kamoshida's Palace, Ryuji's dialogue portrait changes between his normal one and his Phantom Thief outfit.
  • Shadow Kaneshiro has the same skin color as his regular counterpart in this build instead of being purple like in the final.
  • After defeating Yaldabaoth, a scaled down model of its Holy Grail form is used as its Treasure in place of the goblet that's in the final.

Unused Events

There are a lot of unused and test events in the game not present in the final build.

e107_001_pv5

A short cut of a zoom-in to the protagonist in prison attire, looking angry. This shot was used in the first promotional trailer.

(Note: This event was recorded using the February 2016 build. While the event is present in the December 2015 build, it can't be loaded properly due to some missing data.)

e171_001_pv - PV01 Walkway Cutscene

Without Patch With Patch

The walkway cutscene from the game's original reveal trailer. Normally the map doesn't load in this build due to the event viewer trying to load maps from model/field, rather than model/field_tex, and since all the maps are in field_tex, they don't get loaded. With a patch to load the maps from field_tex, they can be viewed. The scene is viewable to completion without the map, but for unknown reasons the map can cause the game to crash when staying in the event for a specific amount of time. There is a way around this, however. Launch the game, and then play this event without playing any other event. The event will play without problems. It will start causing problems when played again, however, so the game would need to be reset to be played in it's entirety.

e993_001 - Early Opening Cutscene

Hmmm...
To do:
Re-record without skipping dialogue, also translate it to English.

An early cutscene that was planned to appear once you begin the game, of Lavenza speaking to you while the main protagonist sits on a chair, afterwards leading to a cinematic. In the final game, this is replaced with the contract agreement.

Early Events

Events that are in the final game but either aren't finished or have differences.

e147_001 - Unfinished Shiho Jump Event

There are a few minor differences here, mainly from 1:48 and onwards:

  • When Ann says Shiho's name she stays in her seat and looks towards the window instead of immediately jumping out of her seat. She instead does this while the other students are reacting to what's happening
  • As Ann and Joker run off they run through the desks.
  • When the camera cuts to Shiho on the roof, the BGM goes silent and nothing plays for the rest of the event.
  • When Shiho jumps, a bit more is shown... you can actually watch her whole body fall unlike in the final game where you only see her feet.
