Lorenzen's Soil level - the effect of being covered in darkness

When I was a kid I had a bootleg version of the game. I swear, at that version, at Lorenzen's Soil level there was the effect of being covered in darkness, just like in the snes version. And I have never seen this effect in any other version of the game for MD/GEN. The question is, is this effect present in any beta or hack version ever released? --Asasa (talk) 16:07, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
