Nintendo a décidé de faire la décision étrange de resortir Super Mario Bros. 2 au Japon 4 ans après la sortie US, sous le titre de Super Mario USA (car le Super Mario Bros. 2 japonais est, comme dit précédemment, un jeu complètement différent, sorti plus tard en Occident en tant que The Lost Levels, faisant partie de Super Mario All-Stars) À part l'écran titre modifié, cette version est identique à la révision 1 US.
