This is a sub-page of Fortnite: Save the World (Windows, Mac OS X).

Guns

Boomstick

A pair of shotguns that shoot grenades. Only the legendary one (The Bear) is functional. The legendary one (The Bear) is based off of a weapon that already exists in the game, while the rare one (The Boomstick) does not seem to be based off of any preexisting weapons.

ShotGod

A developer weapon. A duplicate of the "Double Punch" weapon, changed so that it deals an incredibly high amount of damage.

Gnome Gun

A joke developer weapon. It shoots out gnomes and makes a sound like a guitar. Its rarity was changed to rare in later updates. It uses the Haywire Storm as its model.

Flare Gun

An early/scrapped weapon, not to be confused with the Flare Gun from Fortnite: Battle Royale. It shoots out rockets which do 7 damage and have unused particles. Has a placeholder icon and model. It is likely that this weapon eventually became the "Freedom's Herald" weapon.

Hydraulic Sniper

An early copy of the Hydraulic Sniper weapon. It uses the Deathwing's icon when in the player's inventory.

Test Charge Rocket

A test weapon. Made with the purpose of testing out charge-based weapons. It fires a rocket that, when charged, does more damage and travels faster. Changed to Epic rarity in future updates.

Interestingly, there are no explosive weapons that use this mechanic in the final game. It is likely that this weapon inspired the creation of the Charge Shotgun, introduced in Fortnite: Battle Royale, Chapter 2 Season 3.

Test God Gun

A developer weapon. It does an extremely high amount of damage, reloads instantly, and has an extremely high amount of structure damage. Changed to Impossible rarity in future updates.

Troll Launcher

A joke/dev weapon. Unlike how the Gnome Gun actually shoots gnomes, this gun does not launch any trolls. Changed to Impossible rarity in future updates.

Recon Scanner

Recon Scanner.png

This weapon is based off of the Recon Scanner item that was added to Fortnite: Battle Royale, during Chapter 2 Season 7. It was intended to release alongside the Third Rail, Shooting Star, Pulse Pounder, and Plasmatic Discharger weapons.

The weapon would have likely worked differently to its Battle Royale Counterpart, which would shoot a small device that would mark entities on the player’s HUD within a small range. This feature would not be particularly useful in Save the World, which is why it likely would have worked differently. How it would have worked differently is unknown.

Unused rarities

There are several weapon rarities that go unseen by the player, or were scrapped. These include the Transcendent, Handmade, and Impossible rarity.

Transcendent (Exotic)

A rarity used for developer items. It is represented by a light red color, which can be seen below.

(Screenshot provider: Gurē#2265)

In early versions of Fortnite: Save the World, this rarity was used for developer weapons. These developer weapons mostly consisted of more powerful versions of already existing weapons, as well as some test and joke weapons, such as the Gnome Gun.

In Fortnite's 15.00 update, this rarity was changed to the Exotic rarity, which is represented with a light blue rarity. Despite this, the rarity is still internally referred to as Transcendent.

Impossible

A rarity used for developer and test items. It is represented with a light green color, and should not be confused with the Uncommon rarity.

Items that use this rarity:

  • Troll Launcher
  • Test God Gun
  • Empty Backpack (Cosmetic)

Handmade

A rarity that was once used for specific items and schematics in Fortnite: Save the World. It is represented with a gray color, and should not be confused with the Common rarity. Any items or schematics that originally used this rarity were later changed to the Common rarity.

The schematics that originally used this rarity are the schematics that all players are given by default when starting Save the World for the first time. These schematics cannot be upgraded or recycled. These include schematics for the:

  • Breacher
  • Predator
  • Vigilante
  • Healing Pad
  • Ruler Sword

Additionally, consumable items such as Apples originally used this rarity in Battle Royale, before being changed to common.

Unused Traps

Save the World contains a handful of unused traps. Many of them take advantage of concepts and ideas that were ultimately never implemented into other traps.

Rail Trap: Turret

A trap made for testing. It uses the Wall Dynamo as a placeholder. The trap itself launches a projectile at incoming enemies at a somewhat quick rate.

Currently, no wall traps similar to this exist in the game.

Wall Trap: Armor

A trap made for testing. It uses the Wall Dynamo as a placeholder. It increases the maximum hitpoints on whichever wall it is attached to. It is likely that this trap was scrapped in favor of the Constructor's B.A.S.E. ability.

Presently, one of the perks that a trap can have is to increase the number of hit points of the structure that it is attached to. There is a chance that this trap was created before perks were introduced, or that the team felt that it was better as a general trap perk than just one specific trap.

There's also a chance that this trap eventually inspired the creation of the Armored Wall trap, added to Battle Royale in update v18.00.

Wall Trap: Shield

A trap made for testing. It uses the Wall Dynamo as a placeholder. It creates a blue, spherical visual effect. It does not appear to have any functionality, but we can assume that due to its name, it likely could have either served as an even earlier version of the previously mentioned Wall Trap: Armor, or is an early version of the Anti-Air Trap, due to similarities to their visual effects.
