This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
Basically everything including:
  • Revisional stuff, way too many examples to list.
  • Some interesting prerelease stuff, including a character poll done around the end of Season 3. Some screenshots, including one of two Jagos with placeholder models, a trademark dispute that happened in 2012 between Microsoft and Fox (presumably around when development started), and some concept art included in the game.
    • The bonus app included with the now retired Definitive Edition had a whole sleuth of information (developer interviews, concept art and possibly unused content of its own.) that needs to get added.
  • Prototypes of the game on Xbox 360.
  • The game's Anniversary Edition is now out, check out the patch notes here.
  • Much more I'm probably not aware of.

Carts.png This game has revisional differences.

The 2013 Killer Instinct brings the long-dormant fighting game series back from a 17-year hiatus with flashing effects, a rocking soundtrack (from Mick Gordan before his big break) and tight gameplay that delivers one ULTRA COMBO of a package. While it was little content-dry at launch, the game would go on to receive four years of support, new characters and stages, new modes, and much more. All the while having avoided disaster time and again like its free-to-play model (which was unheard of in a fighting game back in 2013) to its initial developer being bought out by Amazon, quite impressive for a launch title on a fairly low budget.

Also, Rash from Battletoads is a guest character. Truly our prayers have been answered.

Do note that with the release of the Anniversary Edition and the 3.11 patch in November of 2023, the Definitive Edition and much of its extras have since been retired and are no longer purchasable, although they still can be accessed and downlaoded after discontinuation.
