Hey so I found some unused audio track file names. When you use the existing tools to extract the audio, the filenames get messed up because there's no filename entry for the boost SFX version of Modern Sonic's stage music. However, the file name list extends past what is actually there, and contains tracks that do not exist:

  • 00701_bgm_stg_ex01
  • 00702_bgm_stg_ex02
  • 00703_bgm_stg_ex03
  • 00704_bgm_stg_ex04
  • 00705_bgm_stg_ex05
  • 00706_bgm_stg_ex06
  • 00707_bgm_stg_ex07
  • 00901_bgm_stg_sp01
  • 00902_bgm_stg_sp02
  • 00903_bgm_stg_sp03
  • 00904_bgm_stg_sp04
  • 00905_bgm_stg_sp05
  • 00906_bgm_stg_sp06

The Extra and Secret Stages just reuse existing tracks, but it looks like at one point they were going to have unique music? Maybe this could be worked into the wiki page? --Don't try pressing it, now. Techokami (talk) 14:09, 14 November 2017 (EST)
--Just So you know the PC version of the Game's soundtrack is messed up apparently according to rippers. At least Episode Shadow has the game use Beta/Demo versions instead of the final version of the songs. So there might be more than meets the eye in the PC version. --ConsUme (talk) 19:08, 14 November 2017 (EST)

The patch that updated the Episode Shadow music replaced all of the Episode Shadow tracks with updated versions. I have the raw HCA files of both the old & new tracks, should I convert them to OGG & upload comparisons? --- Knuxfan24 (talk) 17:36, 26 November 2017 (EST)

Possibly Unused Dialogue

Can anyone confirm whether the voice clips in this video are used or not? https://youtu.be/MzWtZHXoKKI --GANONdork123 (talk) 21:46, 29 December 2017 (EST)

I can confirm that I haven't lost my edge is unused. No idea about the others.VECTORKNICKERS (talk) 13:16, 1 January 2018 (EST)
"Phew! I needed a good workout after all that rest." and "I haven't lost my edge." seem to both be unused and the rest are used in Egg Gate. -GANONdork123 (talk) 14:39, 1 January 2018 (EST)
It might be worth putting those two lines on the page alongside the unused Cutscene voice overs, & maybe merging the unused lines from Null Space into the same section for a general Unused Voice Lines section.--- Knuxfan24 (talk) 16:15, 28 January 2018 (EST)
that stuff is all in the Egg Gate unused layout video, but someone else could add a section just for the clips if they have the raw audio MrMrMANGOMILK (talk) 16:51, 28 January 2018 (EST)

Unused Object Layouts

So I managed to find some unused object layouts for a few stages. I've also uploaded some gameplay footage of them on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxb8RwETGJA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxb4PzbAo9k

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NofGSvUkxew --Finhinn (talk) 15:11, 20 January 2018 (EST)

Is it worth renaming the Early Null Space Content section to a general Unused Level Layouts/Elements section to factor these in? --- Knuxfan24 (talk) 12:39, 21 January 2018 (EST)
It would definitely make sense as opposed to the approach of making a new section just for it, which would kind of make the page sloppy. MrMrMANGOMILK (talk) 12:42, 21 January 2018 (EST)
yeah lemme merge that real quick MrMrMANGOMILK (talk) 11:47, 27 January 2018 (EST)

Localization Changes

I've read somewhere (I believe on TVTropes) that there were some changes to the English and Japanese dialogue, mainly that Dr. Eggman didn't torture Sonic in the Japanese version, and that Infinite wonders if the Avatar has a Phantom Ruby Prototype in the cutscene following the Avatar's boss battle against him. However, I have no way of confirming this. Sonic65101 (talk) 21:58, 28 January 2018 (EST)

I misread the second one. In the Japanese version Eggman supposedly mentions to Infinite in the cutscene before Classic Sonic's battle with Egg Dragoon that the Phantom Ruby Prototypes are unstable and can only be used once. Sonic65101 (talk) 18:32, 30 January 2018 (EST)

Here's a translation video, enjoy. For the record, the original Japanese line does not explicitly use the word "torture" but a much more vague term which basically means "to give someone hell/a hard time." --Windii (talk) 11:34, 31 January 2018 (EST)

Unused Graphics

Hey, it's me again. I think i've found some unused graphics that are pretty interesting.

comp_hud2: https://imgur.com/a/VoSvQ comp_hud2 is an unused screenshot that depicts an early version of Sunset Heights. The most notable differences are the semi-transparent HUD and significantly different lighting.

ui_ci_img: https://imgur.com/a/Bp7FS This texture has some HUD icons that suggest Sonic Colors-style drifting and quickstepping sections were in the game at some point. Most of the other graphics on it are used in the final game, though. I added a black background to make the white graphics easier to see. -Finhinn (talk) 21:23, 2 February 2018 (EST)

Mystic Jungle - Possibly unused Tag Team layout?

From my own examinations, it seems like the internal organisation for level files is a World Number (Death Egg is w1, City is w3, etc) & an Act Number. It would appear that the Act Number works as follows:

  • a01: Modern Sonic
  • a02: Avatar
  • a03: Tag Team
  • a04: Classic Sonic

In the gedit folder in wars_patch.cpk, there appears to be a w4a03 file, which would imply the presence of a Mystic Jungle Tag Team act, however, there is not one in the game. & the Object Layout doesn't match up with any of the three existing Mystic Jungle acts. Though I do need to check if w4a03_gedit.pac exists in the most recent version of the wars_patch.cpk file, as all my extractions come from the Day 1 files. --- Knuxfan24 (talk) 14:06, 3 February 2018 (EST)

Just checked, & I can confirm that the file is still there in the most recent version of the game, though I still do not know what it contains, someone with either knowledge of Cheat Engine (& thus the ability to freely fly) or the ability to get HedgeEdit working would have to look into the file to see what objects are placed, as there is definitely something if the filesize is to be believed. --- Knuxfan24 (talk) 14:47, 12 February 2018 (EST)
I actually uploaded a video on YouTube a few days ago showing off the unused layout. It seems like it's an early version of Luminous Forest. Here's a link to the video

Question about the demo

Has anybody looked through the files in the demo to see if there's anything that isn't in the release version? i'd do it myself, but i don't own a PS4 or Switch. Finhinn (talk)

Shadow's Unused(?) Chaos Control(?)

Alright, we gotta investigate into whatever Codenamegamma has found regarding what might be an unused ability for Shadow. MUGEN-tan (talk) 00:55, 09 April 2018 (EST)

Even More Unused Dialogue

I dug through a lot of Sonic Forces' dialogue audio and found a lot that wasn't listed here. To save you the trouble of finding it yourself, I'll link what I found through this link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0spxohdvpkthwa4/AAB6V_ZavwQldWAmDLPvZc1Ta?dl=0

Here's what I have to say about the "_vgmt_acb_ext_voice_wars_ingame_en" folder and the "_vgmt_acb_ext_voice_wars_ingame_jp" folder:

-ev0110ig: Green Hill: Lost Valley (Modern)

  • 3 voice lines about sand waterfalls.

-ev0620ig: Green Hill: Arsenal Pyramid (Tag Team)

  • A unique "Double Boost!" line that was supposed to play before using the double boost (it's placed right after "We'll blow past everything they throw at us!")

-ev1320ig: Metropolis: Capital City (Custom Hero)

  • Knuckles has a line that says "Just trust your gut and keep going" and was supposed to be played after "Stay calm, what you're seeing isn't real." but it doesn't play in the game. I'm guessing the B in the filename "ev1320ig_022B_kn" could imply it was an alternative line or it was decided to get unused.
  • Another line from Knuckles "What is up with that thing? Ngh, even if we know it's all fake, there's nothing we could do!" and that was supposed to play after "The rookie is our only hope now.".

-ev1520ig: City: Red Gate Bridge (Tag Team)

  • A lot of unused dialog. A lot of them are hints for the Metal Sonic boss. The lines are placed after "Eggman's new invention is a real pain in the neck.".
  • Another unique "Double Boost!" line that was supposed to play before using the double boost (it's placed right after "When we join forces, the sky is the limit!").
  • After that, there are two Sonic lines "Time to wrap things up, partner!" "Let's do this. Maximum Power!". Maximum Power could be an early name for the double boost.

-ev1620ig: Green Hill: Guardian Rock (Custom Hero)

  • Placed right at the beginning, there are unused and used voiceclips that share the same numbers (010, 011 and 012). Amy's got replaced with the Soldier at the beginning of the stage, Knuckles' first line got replaced with Amy's "Hang on, it's a multi-legged battlemech!" and Knuckles' second line got replaced with Vector's "So Eggman had another weapon up his sleeve".

-ev2020ig: Metropolis: Null Space (Tag Team)

  • Another unique "Double Boost!" line that was supposed to play before using the double boost (it's placed right after "Let's head back. Everyone is waiting for us!").

-ev2130ig: Eggman Empire: Imperial Tower (Custom Hero)

  • There's are unused voice lines placed right after Amy's "Please come back in one piece." which warn the player of an orbital laser cannon. Tails and Knuckles read almost the exact same line.
  • Knuckles' "This isn't good. Run! RUN!" line is placed after "You're a real soldier now, Rookie.".

-ev2410ig: Eggman Empire: Final Judgement (Tag Team)

  • After the player takes out the reactor, there should've been lines about how Sonic took it out and that Tails warns the player that the fortress won't hold for long.
  • And after those lines, there should've been another unique "Double Boost!" line. The actual game only uses the "Double Boost!" line from the "_vgmt_acb_ext_voice_wars_sonic" folder. Never from the "_vgmt_acb_ext_voice_wars_ingame_en" folder, nor the "_vgmt_acb_ext_voice_wars_ingame_jp" folder.

Keep in mind, those 4 lines are placed in FRONT of the actual in-game double boost lines ("Pretty thrilling, huh, partner?", etc.). It even keeps going with "053" and so on instead of just starting over with "060".

-ev9000ig: Generic lines(?)

  • There are a whole 75 lines unused from a lot of characters. Aside from "015" and "018" (which are lines for Chemical Plant Classic), nothing from this went up used.
  • 021's line has no filter for Tails.
  • And to top it all of, there are only English lines for this. No unused Japanese lines here, unlike everything before I just listed.

Here's what I have to say about the "_vgmt_acb_ext_voice_wars_sonic" folder:

-Speculation: Voice clips for Modern Sonic's idle animation

  • This a bit of speculation but if the lines "00084", "00085" and "00086" weren't in Sonic Lost World's files (because the folder does share a lot of Lost World voice clips), then this means that these lines were supposed to be for Modern Sonic's idle animation(s) and he doesn't have idle animations in the actual game(except for the "bored skydiving" animation from Lost World) but Custom Hero and Classic Sonic have them.

-Other clearly unused voice clips 00094 up to 00100 went unused.

  • 094 - Unused "Triple Boost" voice line. The used one is in the event folder.
  • 095/096 - "Let's go" lines. One is more aggressive than the other.
  • 097/098 - "Running time" lines. Maybe this could've been intended for automatic running sections but that's just me guessing.
  • 099 - Energetic "Okay" line
  • 100 - Casual "Here we go" line

--AnotherBlob (talk) 23:55, 1 May 2018 (EDT)

Update: I've added the German, Italian, Spanish and French voiceclip variants now (including the Death Egg and Null Space ones because those other 4 versions of these 5 voiceclips weren't added to the page yet). A whole 36 voiceclips went unused for the German, Italian, Spanish, French and Japanese versions. But the English version has 111 unused ones (if you don't count the "_vgmt_acb_ext_voice_wars_sonic" folder). --AnotherBlob (talk) 17:40, 9 May 2018 (EDT)
Shadow DLC Update: I've found 25 more unused voice clips in the Shadow DLC files. That means, 150 more unused voice clips throughout all 6 languages. Woohoo. Oh, and I included something in the French acb folder. voice_wars_ingame_shadow_dlc_(language).acb.00001.wav an explosion-ish soundeffect that can be found in every non-English acb folder, next to the short explosions that are actually used in the last Shadow DLC cutscene. So... now for the amature documentating:

Unused dialog for Shadow DLC

Intro:
ev8000w_010_sh was supposed to be used as narration in the text-only intro.

City - Enemy Territory:
8020ig_080_ro and 8020ig_090_sh were supposed to be used after Rouge lost contact with Omega (it's placed after the Rouge's voiceclip "Omega? What's going on? Respond!").
8020ig_130_ro and 8020ig_140_sh were supposed to be used at the end of the stage.

Green Hill - Virtual Reality:
8060ig_050_sh, 8060ig_060_sh and 8060ig_070_sh seem to be an earlier version of the intro dialog. Starting with Shadow being confused, noticing that something might be a trap and considers playing along.
8060ig_080_sh, 8060ig_090_ro and 8060ig_100_sh were supposed to be used after the intro dialog. Shadow asks Rouge what happened to Omega. In return, she says "Who knows. We haven't heard a beep from him since he was dispatched last week." and Shadow answers with "I thought you said he was destroyed 3 months ago." and then Rouge goes radio silent with a "..." in the dialog box. You can see it in action here.
8060ig_120_ro, 8060ig_130_sh, 8060ig_140_sh, 8060ig_150_ro are supposed to be used after that dialog scene and before the "This is where Omega was destroyed, but there is no sign of him here." scene. Rouge starts a conversation of how clumsy Omega is and how she "can't wait to see the look on that smashed-up tin can's face". Shadow asks if she's really Rouge and then Rouge says "Of course I'm me. Just like how you are you.". --AnotherBlob (talk) 20:02, 14 May 2018 (EDT)

Added ogg converted files to a seperate folder in the dropbox link so that others can document about them quicker. --AnotherBlob (talk) 10:45, 23 May 2018 (EDT)

Why is "(Windows)" in the page title?

The game is pretty much the same across all platforms. Usually this notation is for when different games with the same name were released on different platforms (i.e. Sonic Colors Wii vs DS). Can't we pull a Sonic Heroes and just cover version-specific things within the same article? MrMrMANGOMILK (talk) 04:11, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
