An "impossible port" of the PC original that uses custom RSP microcode to drag the aging N64 hardware beyond its traditional limits with asset streaming, more polygons, real-time lighting effects and a particle system working together to match and perhaps even slightly succeed the original game, while also simultaneously giving emulator authors everywhere some intense headaches.

Version Differences

  • The Secret of the Monkey Island area in the last stage of the PC version was removed for the N64 version.
  • One treasure in Shambala Sanctuary, Olmec Valley, and Aetherium were put in different locations.
  • New music tracks were added.
  • During cutscenes, the character's lips don't move anymore.
  • The travel map when going to a new level now unfolds and features a 3D plane model.
  • Levels don't have a map anymore, and no hint system.
  • On the PC version you could save and load anywhere. On the N64 version you can save anywhere, but it only loads on certain checkpoints and not on the spot where you saved.
