With this code active you can also hold L1 and R1 along with one of the three combinations for a different effect.

Square - Show overall game stats
Cross - Fill scare meter
Circle - Deplete scare meter

If you stay idle in main menu of PlayStation version - the gameplay demo plays. In this demo we can see that "Downtown" was originally called "The City Centre". This title was also used in the PlayStation 2 version. What's even more interesting is the fact that in the early demo of PS1 game the level was called "Streets At Night".
