Solar Winds II: Universe continues on from Solar Winds: The Escape.
Present in solar2.exe. The first message is a leftover from the first game.

The second item listed here, Cloak Device, is another leftover from the first game. It looks identical, but cannot be used.
FUEL CLOAK DEVICE BLUE KEY
There are actually two items called 'fuel'. One is usable (this one has bubbles) and the other is not (this one doesn't have bubbles). Thus, the usable Fuel in this game would appear to be the same thing as the first game's Core Fluid (it even gives the same amount of fuel).
The Blue Key doesn't appear to have a graphic.

Specifically: Is there a way to open these portals and does this mean that there are unused areas?
There are two portals in the penultimate proper solar system in the game which are not part of the plot and there is no key in the game that opens them. They are part of a triangle of portals and are located at sectors -12522, 3814 and -12518, 3806. The other portal in the triangle is used.
Unused Disguise Feature
There is a part of the first episode during which you're disguised as an alien during communications. This feature is also present in this episode and there is a boolean value to set it, but it is never activated and the feature never used. When this value is turned on, you are disguised as a different alien to the first episode.
