This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.
Specifically: The descriptions are short, Some unused code isn't here

Labyrinth is one of the sample games for Windows 8 Developer Preview, by Microsoft.

(Unused stuff is from the hidden Applications folder in Program Files in Windows 8 Developer Preview.)

Unused Graphics

square

Square.png

A file called "square", probably used as a placeholder while testing the game.

LabyrinthLogo.png

An early logo of the game called "LabyrinthLogo", likely used as an early logo. Probably made in Microsoft Paint.

WideTile.png

There was going to be a wide tile for the game in the Windows Developer Preview Start Menu, but it got scrapped for some reason.

Ball

BallRealisticDPLabyrinth.png

A realistic version of the ball.

Test Images

There are four test images.

"Seaweed" Desaturated Variants

There are two desaturated variants of the "Seaweed" level.

Unused Level

There is an unused level in the game files called "Level4", it's unknown what the name of the level in the game would've been. We can see it's missing some details (like in the holes) so it was either made while testing the level design, or it was never finished and never removed.

Unused Audio

hole.mp3

There is a duplicate of the Hole sound, except it's in MP3 format and it's longer for some reason.

winning.mp3

An unused winning sound, either an alternative or early version of the used winning sound.

Maze Facts

There were going to be Maze Facts in the game, but they were scrapped. There is some code for it, text, and an HTML, called "snapped". This is because the Maze Facts are shown when the game is not in fullscreen mode.

The world's largest corn maze was created in 2007 in Benson Farms in Nebraska, and it spans 54,428 Acres.

In Greek mythology, Theseus found his way out of the labyrinth housing the Minotaur by using a ball of string to mark his path.

In 1870 the foundations of a giant Labyrinth were discovered in Egypt. The Labyrinth, previously known from the writings of Heterodotus, is said to be the most elaborate monument ever build in ancient Egypt.

Try drawing a maze in one minute that would take someone two minutes to solve. It's a lot harder than it sounds.

One of the oldest mazes, the 7-circuit labyrinth, has a design that mirrors the movement of the planet Mercury in the sky.

According to the Roman historian Pliny, labyrinths etched onto the ground were used to test the skill of young horseback riders.

During the middle ages, mazes were common artpieces.

A common maze design technique is to use optical illusions to make the correct path harder to discern. For example, mazes of nonsquare shapes are harder to understand at a glance than are square mazes.

The word labyrinth is thought to be derived from the ancient Greek word labyrs, meaning axe.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

During the middle ages, turf mazes (mazes built from bushes and greenery) were a common fad. A popular pastime was to try and traverse those mazes while blindfolded.
