Pokémon Masters EX
Pokémon Masters EX |
---|
Also known as: Pokémon Masters This game has unused animations. |
This game is still under active development. Be aware that any unused content you find may become used or removed in the future. Please only add things to the article that are unlikely to ever be used, or went unused for some time. If they do get used, please remove them from the page and specify in the edit summary! |
Originally known as just Pokémon Masters before it's rebranding August 18th 2020, Pokémon Masters EX is the franchise's take on the gacha game formula, featuring hundreds of different Pokémon Trainers from the franchise's history (from Gen I all the way up to Gen IX). Take on story content, monthly battle challenges and much more. It's also notable for being the first time since Pokémon Puzzle League that Ash Ketchum from the Pokémon anime has appeared in a Pokémon video game.

Mindscapes

Tx_ch0110_01_kasumi_mindscape00.ktx | An earlier version of Misty's Mindscape graphic. The colors are slightly darker and a "temporary" symbol is present. At some point in development Misty (Swimsuit) was the default Misty until it was later changed to use her Let's Go! design as default. | |
Tx_ch0000_01_red_mindscape00.ktx | A Mindscape graphic for the unused version Red. This Mindscape depicts the PML Stadium during the day. A nightime version of this Mindscape would later be created for Lear & Hoopa. | |

Sync Move Videos
A set of four videos were found in the Movie/Scout folder in 1.0.0 that have small differences. These videos are normally able to be viewed in the shop.
Blue and Lyra's Sync Move videos play the audio as they normally do, with the one difference being they play a voiceline in Japanese. In the final game, Sync Move videos do not use voicelines.
Hilbert and Olivia's Sync Moves videos have no audio at all, no sound effects or anything. Olivia's video also lags at the start of the attack.
Textures
Misty (Swimsuit)
The Swimsuit (initial) version of Misty's face textures weren't finalised when this version of her was pushed back for a later release. When she was released her face textures were copied from the finished LGPE version. Noticeable differences include update placements of the pupils and reflections added to her mid-blink face.

Changed Graphics
Gaphics from released versions of the game that were later changed in later updates for one reason or another.
Trainers
Cyrus
Originally Cyrus' model had a design inaccuracy where part of his outfit was missing, showing more neck. Approximately 2 months later his model was updated and the renders were updated alongside it.
1.12.0 - 2.0.0 | |||
---|---|---|---|
2.1.0 - Current | |||
Crasher Wake
Prior to version 2.9.0 Crasher Wake used a different render in menus. This was later changed to one where his hands are on his hips, preventing him from covering other character's faces on the results screen.
1.0.0 - 2.9.0 | 2.9.0 - Current |
---|---|
Siebold (Holiday 2019)
A whole 2.5 years after his release Holiday Siebold's model was slightly updated with his hands being adjusted. Only his Vs render was changed however. This update coincided with his 6*EX being released that same month.
1.2.0 | 2.18.0 - Current |

Trainer Lodge Images
Adaman
Initially Adaman's model had a small error where his right eyebrow was not modeled correctly. This was later fixed and all his renders and lodge artwork were corrected, though this isn't really noticeable on his standard menu renders.
2.33.0 - 2.34.0 | |||
---|---|---|---|
2.35.0 - Current | |||
Wally
The Lodge Photo Backgrounds were originally too small to fit the full intended image frame. The next update after Lodge Wally's release the backgrounds were made bigger.
2.41.0 | 2.42.0 |
---|---|
2.41.0 | 2.42.0 |
Sygna Suit Gladion
Seems like 2.41.0 was a bad time to have a Lodge image. Upon release SS Gladion's Lodge Background was scuffed, showcasing a small segment of next months Lodge member Skyla's Background and having the same issue as Wally with size. This was corrected in the following 2.42.0 update.
2.41.0 | 2.42.0 |
---|---|
Pokémon
Eevee
In version 2.38.0 Eevee's model was changed to it's model from Pokémon HOME. This coincides with the release of Elaine & Eevee and affected the existing Leaf & Eevee. This change is because the female model and shiny models were needed. The most noticeable changes are that textures are higher quality and the shadows are different.

Unused Graphics
Trainers
Red
Blacked out renders of an early version of Red with a "temporary" symbol placed over the images. The silhouettes' shoes resemble Red's Pokémon Red and Blue design. This version of Red may have been an early version of Sygna Suit Red & Charizard or Red was meant to use his oldest design as the default Sync Pair for Red before this was changed.
Cheren
Renders of Cheren using his design from Pokémon Black and White with "temporary" symbols placed over the images. While Cheren is playable in this game, he uses his design from Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 instead. This Cheren model was once accidentally used in this video uploaded to the Official Pokémon YouTube channel. See here.
Scientist ♂
Blacked out renders of the Scientist (♂) Trainer Class with a "temporary" symbol placed over the images. Along with the Mindscape as evidence it is believed the Scientist could've been playable at some point. The images are found within the character folders for the Player's character Scottie(♂) and Bettie(♀), though the significance of this is unknown. Trainer Classes would not become playable until the addition of Naomi (Sightseer (♀)) & Sandslash. As of yet there is still no playable Scientist.
Other Trainer Graphics
A blacked out render of the Blackbelt Trainer Class with a "temporary" symbol placed over the image.
A render of Professor Bellis in a T-Pose with a "temporary" symbol placed on her hair. Considering it's found within ui/image/tutorial, It may have been a placeholder graphic for a tutorial.
An image of Cheren (in his 6*EX pose) in a frame. Likely used for testing characters getting new renders via 6*EX or how characters will be framed in the games' menus.
Pokémon
A bizzare image of a level 199 Strike Fire-type Lucario with the same kanji spammed throughout the infobox where the Trainer and Pokémon name would be.
Unused Items
ui/image/Item as you can guess holds every basic item image. Note: Some of these items may appear at a later point in the future. If they do they might be moved to Event Items.
Event Vouchers
Note: These Vouchers may appear at a later point in the future. If they do they'll be moved to Event Items
Legendary Prize Box Coins
Seeing as how there likely won't be anymore Legendary Events, we can safely assume these will not be used as other Prize Boxcentric events just use the basic Prize Box Coins.
Unused Menu Graphics
A dummy graphic found in ui/Battle/image within version 1.0.0.
A image found in Terrain\s000\Textures, showing 2D stock Hoopa promotional artwork from the 18th movie as well as in-game renders of Paulo and a currently unknown girl next to a Hoopa ring, using Cheryl's Mindscape as a background.
Old tips image for Status Conditions found within ui/image/tutorial/dialog. This shows early icons of the Poisoned, Badly Poisoned, Paralyzed, Burned and Frozen Status Conditions.
Old tips image for Co-op battles also found within ui/image/tutorial/dialog. This image shows Rosa, Wulfric and Cheren (with his unused BW1 design) with their Partner Pokémon.
Old Mission image for found within ui/image/Dialog/NewMission/. Features a older design for the Poryphone with stretched out eyes and is seemingly unshaded.
Mock-up images found within ui/image/Dialog/Deck/. Features an early version of the Co-op battle screen with the unused version of Red (& Pikachu) as a Sync Pair at level 199. Red would later form a Master Sync Pair with his Pikachu for the game's 3rd Anniversary.
A mock-up image of the Unity Attack gauge found in ui/image/Dialog/BondGauge. Looks completely different to the final game's Unity Attack meter.
A mock-up banner image found in ui/image/banner/LoginBonus. Appears to be a cropped in-game Vs screenshot against Crasher Wake.
Unused Video
A very basic, short Scouting video named "gacha_TranerGateIn.mp4" found in the Movies filepath in version 1.0.0. It was likely a placeholder before the final set of scouting videos were created later in development.
Unused Models
All the models here are only present in versions 1.0.0 to 1.3.0 and have been deleted from current versions of the game.

Ch0014_00_cheren.lmd | The model of BW1 Cheren. Here he can be observed without a dummy graphic in his face. | |
Ch0069_00_30elitem.lmd | Originally the Male Ace Trainer from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire was in the game before it was changed to use the Male Ace Trainer design from Pokémon Sun and Moon instead. | |
Ch9999_00_common.lmd | A generic humanoid figure with a flat texture. This character model appears in the unused Sync Pair Scout video. |
Pokémon

pm0257_01_bursyamo.lmd | A model of Female Blaziken. Currently only Male Blazikens are used (Sygna Suit May & Blaziken). | |
pm0307_00_asanan.lmd | A model of Male Meditite. Currently only Female Meditite are used (Maylene & Medicham before Evolution). | |
pm0737_51_megabohmander.lmd | A model of Mega Salamence. There are two Sync Pairs with Salamence (Drake & Salamence, Zinnia & Salamence) but neither are able to Mega Evolve their Salamences. | |
pm0445_00_gaburias.lmd | A model of Male Garchomp. Currently only Female Garchomp are used (Cynthia & Garchomp). | |
pm0725_12_d.lmd | Contrary to its appearance, it is a 3D model, albeit a flat one. It has no animations. | |
pm0725_13_gekkougasatoshi.lmd | The model of Ash-Greninja. Doesn't seem likely to be added to the game anytime soon. |

Unused animations
Battle_Shot
A pose that every Trainer character model has, It's their Vs graphic but with the actual 3D model. Some of the earliest characters in the game have proper posing beyond the renders. Some characters beyond 1.0.0 do as well, but not many as most have clipping bodyparts everywhere. This can imply they were worked at an earlier point in development.
- Lear's is mislabelled as Shot_Battle.

---|---|---|
One unused animation for Tina which has her falling through the floor into the abyss, due them having the same name, it appears it's meant to play along an animation for the Hoopa ring expanding beneath her feet. Surely planned for a future event cutscene involving Hoopa.
Unused Textures
Scottie
A set of 9 unused character customization textures relating to Scottie (the Male Player character) from 1.0.0. These textures only work on the player character models from before 2.28.0 (the update which added Player character customization). None of the textures are currently used for clothing sets. They seem to be a bit mismatched.

Bettie
Bettie (the Female Player character) also has her own wardrobe of 9 unused character customization textures. The yellow and red colourings mirror Scottie but the blue (or aqua?) is much brighter. Her textures are more mismatched compared to what Scottie has.
